A school governing board focuses on the following four strategic functions:
- Ensuing clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
- Communicating with stakeholders: pupils, staff, parents & the wider community.
In order to carry out these important functions, there is a full Governing Board meeting at least once a term. The formal minutes of these meetings are made available on this website once they have been approved.
The Governing Board comprises 13 governors. The Co-Chairs and the Vice-chair are elected annually from their number. The governors are nominated or elected by staff, parents, St Mary’s Church Hampton, or the diocese. They can also be co-opted by the governing board for their particular skill.
